Hugo Broos names provisional South Africa squad for Zambia friendly in November
South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has unveiled his provisional Bafana Bafana squad ahead of next month’s international friendly against Zambia.
The match is a key warm-up fixture for the Bafana Bafana as the team continues preparations for the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Bafana Bafana have already secured qualification for both the 2026 FIFA World Cup and AFCON, and Broos is using the November international window to assess new talent.
Among the fresh faces included in the preliminary squad are Puso Dithejane and Masindi Nemtajela, as Broos stays true to his promise of allowing emerging players to stake their claim.

The team heads into this friendly in impressive form, boasting a 24-match unbeaten run on the pitch. However, that streak was officially shortened due to a FIFA ruling that deducted points from South Africa for fielding an ineligible player in a previous fixture against Lesotho.
With the match scheduled for 14 November, the South African Football Association is expected to confirm the venue in the coming days.
The clash against Zambia is set to offer Broos a crucial opportunity to test his depth and fine-tune his squad ahead of the continental showpiece.
