Huesca bolster defence with Yann Kembo loan switch from Sporting Gijon
France and DR Congo centre-back Yann Kembo has joined SD Huesca from Sporting Gijon on a season-long loan, strengthening the Primera Federacion side’s defensive options for the 2026-27 campaign.
The 24-year-old’s move was completed on 12 August 2026, with the loan running until 30 June 2027. Kembo is a 1.96m left-footed defender who plays primarily at centre-back and has moved to Huesca after spending the first part of 2026 with Sporting Gijon.
Kembo returned to Sporting Gijon in June following a loan spell at UD Ibiza. He had joined Ibiza from Sporting in January 2026 and made eight appearances in National 2 – Group C during his time away from the club. His return to Sporting was brief before Huesca secured him for the new season.
He joined Sporting Gijon permanently from Sporting Atletico in July 2024, having previously been part of the club’s reserve setup. Before moving to Spain, Kembo developed in France with RC Lens, progressing from the club’s under-19 side to RC Lens B. He began his youth career at Le Mans before joining Tours FC’s under-17 team in 2017.
His senior record includes 13 appearances in Primera Federacion, as well as five Copa del Rey matches and one LaLiga2 appearance. He has also featured in France’s National 1 and National 2 competitions, giving him experience across several levels of the French and Spanish football systems.
Kembo’s career statistics also include eight appearances in the promotion play-offs for Segunda Federacion and five outings in National 2 – Group C. He scored once in the latter competition and recorded two goals in 11 National U19 appearances.
The defender’s transfer history includes free moves from Le Mans’ youth setup to Tours FC and from Tours to RC Lens’ under-19 team. He later moved from RC Lens B to Sporting B in February 2023 before stepping up to Sporting Atletico and then Sporting Gijon.
Kembo, born in Le Mans, holds French and DR Congo nationality. His temporary switch to Huesca has been completed and remains in place until 30 June 2027.
