Houston eye Union SG’s Anouar Ait El Hadj in potential MLS move

Belgian-Moroccan attacking midfielder Anouar Ait El Hadj is the subject of a transfer rumour linking him with Houston from Belgian champions Union SG.

The 24-year-old has been with Union SG since joining from Genk for €1.5m in July 2024. He has a market value of €5m and is contracted to the Belgian club until 30 June 2028, meaning any move to Major League Soccer would require an agreement between the two clubs rather than a free transfer.

Ait El Hadj has not made an appearance for Union SG in the current campaign, with the club having played four Jupiler Pro League matches, two Champions League qualifying games and the Belgian Super Cup fixture listed to date.

He played a part in Union SG’s recent domestic success, winning the Belgian Cup in 2026 after helping the club claim the Belgian title and Super Cup in the 2024-25 season.

The attacking midfielder began his senior career at Anderlecht before moving to Genk in January 2023. His potential switch to Houston would represent a move from the Jupiler Pro League to MLS, but the rumour remains unconfirmed. For now, Ait El Hadj remains a Union SG player with two years left on his contract beyond the current season.
