Houssine Kharja Close to Sochaux Return Amid Sheffield Wednesday Trial
After more than a year away from competitive football, Houssine Kharja could soon make a comeback. The former Morocco captain, out of action since being dropped by Al Arabi in 2013, has reportedly been offered a contract by FC Sochaux, according to Afrik.com.
⚽ Two Clubs in the Race:
-
🔵 FC Sochaux (France): Keen to bring in the experienced midfielder, possibly paving the way for Kharja’s return to Ligue 2 and a shot at AFCON 2015.
-
⚫ Sheffield Wednesday (England): Have placed Kharja on trial as they assess his fitness and form.
📝 Context:
-
Kharja, now a free agent, last played competitively in 2013.
-
Was dropped from Morocco’s national team after the 2013 AFCON in South Africa.
-
A move to either club could revive his international hopes ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
At 32, Kharja brings veteran experience and leadership. A successful signing could see him return to the Atlas Lions squad if he regains form.
