Recent speculation surrounding Hossam Hassan, the newly appointed head coach of the Egyptian national team, and his eligibility to lead the team due to lacking the necessary A coaching license required by the African Union, has been addressed with clarity.
In an exclusive report by Al-Youm Al-Sabea newspaper, inquiries were made to Dr. Gamal Mohamed, the Director of Coaching Administration at the Egyptian Football Association, to verify these claims.
Dr. Mohamed confirmed that Hossam Hassan obtained his A coaching license back in 2014.
According to Dr. Mohamed, Hossam Hassan acquired this license during a training course held in 2014, alongside Emad El-Nahhas.
The course was overseen by a Sudanese lecturer residing in the Gulf region.
Furthermore, it was clarified that Hossam Hassan had his license equivalently recognized before taking over coaching duties for the Jordanian national team several years ago, aligning with the requirements of the Asian Football Confederation.
Dr. Gamal Mohamed elaborated that Hossam Hassan is currently in the process of obtaining his Pro coaching license, awaiting the opening of these licenses in Egypt for applicants.
Hossam Hassan is poised to debut as the head coach of the Egyptian national team on March 22, 2024, during a friendly tournament in the Emirates.
Egypt will face off against Tunisia, New Zealand, and Croatia in this competition.
In a special session held on Tuesday, the Egyptian Football Association’s board of directors decided to appoint Hossam Hassan as the technical director of the Egyptian national team, succeeding the Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria.
Additionally, Ibrahim Hassan was appointed as the team manager.
