Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, has disclosed the schedule for announcing the team’s roster ahead of the international break set for the end of March.
Egypt is scheduled to face New Zealand in a friendly quadrangular tournament, which also includes Tunisia and Croatia.
This marks the debut of Hossam Hassan and his coaching staff after taking over the national team from Portuguese coach Roy Vitoria.
In an exclusive interview with “FilGoal,” Hossam Hassan stated, “The announcement of the national team’s roster will be on Sunday, March 10th, comprising 25 players, including 3 goalkeepers, considering we have only two matches during the March break.”
Addressing the issue of Mohamed Salah’s inclusion in the national team and Liverpool’s alleged refusal to release him, the national team coach commented, “I have not discussed Salah’s matter at all.
Since the press conference, I have not spoken to the media at all.”
He continued, “I am not involved in any of the rumors surrounding Mohamed Salah’s situation.
Matters are handled through correspondence between Liverpool and the Football Association.”
Hossam Hassan included seven professional players during the international break, including Mohamed Salah, Mostafa Mohamed, Omar Marmoush, Mahmoud Trezeguet, Ahmed Hegazi, Mohamed Sherif, and Hamdi Fathi.
However, Mohamed Elneny, the Arsenal midfielder, was not called up.
Commenting on Elneny’s absence, Hassan stated, “Elneny has contributed significantly to the Egyptian national team, and he remains within the overall structure of the team.
He will not be present in the March camp but will be available for future camps after being monitored.”
The national team coach concluded, “The door to the national team is open to any player, and any player who puts in effort will have a place in the team.”
