Hossam Hassan hands surprise Egypt call-up to Pyramids forward Ahmed Atef “Qatta”
Hossam Hassan has decided to hand a surprise call-up to Ahmed Atef for the upcoming training camp of the Egypt national football team scheduled for March.
The camp forms part of Egypt’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and is expected to take place in Doha, Qatar. During the training period, the Pharaohs are set to play two friendly matches, first against Saudi Arabia national football team on March 26 and then against Spain national football team on March 30.
However, reports suggest there are still doubts surrounding the camp due to the current security situation in the Qatari capital.
According to information gathered from a source, the decision to include the Pyramids player came after his impressive performances for Pyramids FC in recent weeks. The forward has emerged as an important figure in the team’s attacking lineup thanks to his consistent displays and ability to influence matches.
Atef has also been among the standout performers in the CAF Champions League this season, scoring four goals so far and playing a key role in Pyramids’ progress in the continental competition.
Since joining the club, the player has featured in 72 matches across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing three assists. With a market value estimated at around €1.5 million, his recent form has strengthened the case for his inclusion in the national team setup as Egypt continues its preparations for the next phase of international competitions.
