Hossam Ghaly’s silence deepens Al Ahly tensions

Hossam Ghaly, a respected member of Al Ahly’s board and a beloved former captain, has found himself at the center of growing tension within the club.

His absence from last Thursday’s stormy board meeting only fueled speculation about his future and his strained ties with the current leadership.

The controversy began after Ghaly made bold statements on a podcast. He revealed his ambition to run for the Al Ahly presidency but stressed that he would not take part in dishonest wars, saying he had learned how bad things were. His words spread quickly among fans and officials, sparking heated debate inside the club.

In response, current president Mahmoud El Khatib formally submitted a letter to the board asking for Ghaly’s dismissal and for him to be barred from running in the upcoming elections.

A close source told Kooora that Ghaly did not intentionally boycott the last meeting. Instead, he has been missing several sessions, believing his relationship with the board is finished. The source added he might not return for the remaining meetings.
