Hossam Abdelmeguid helps Ludogorets Razgrad return to winning ways

Ludogorets Razgrad returned to winning ways in the Bulgarian league with a 2-1 victory over Lokomotiv Sofia, as Egypt international Hossam Abdelmeguid completed the entire match for the winners.

The result moved Ludogorets to 20 points after eight rounds, leaving them second in the table and four points behind leaders Levski Sofia. The victory was particularly important for Ludogorets after they had drawn their previous two league matches and were looking to regain momentum in the title race.

Abdelmeguid started the game and remained on the pitch until the final whistle. The defender was booked in the 87th minute, but his disciplinary caution did not prevent Ludogorets from seeing out the match and securing all three points.

The appearance was Abdelmeguid’s third for Ludogorets since joining the Bulgarian club. He moved to Razgrad from Egyptian side Zamalek at the beginning of the season and has now featured for the first team on three occasions.

Ludogorets’ victory keeps them firmly in pursuit of Levski Sofia at the top of the standings. Sitting on 20 points, they remain four points behind the leaders, with the latest win restoring pressure on the team above them.

For Abdelmeguid, the match represented another full competitive outing as he continues his early period with Ludogorets. His involvement from the opening minute through to the end underlined his role in the side’s defensive efforts, while the late booking was his only disciplinary setback during the contest.

Ludogorets had been unable to win either of their two previous league fixtures, making the narrow success against Lokomotiv Sofia a significant result in their attempt to remain close to the leaders. They now occupy second place, while Levski Sofia continue to lead the division by four points.

The 2-1 scoreline gave Ludogorets the response they wanted after the pair of draws and ensured that their pursuit of the top position remains active. Abdelmeguid’s full participation also adds another appearance to his record since his move from Zamalek at the start of the campaign.

With three matches now under his belt for his new club, the Egypt international will be aiming to build on his involvement as Ludogorets continue their challenge near the top of the Bulgarian league.
