Hossam Abdel-Latif, former Zamalek star, emphasized that the participation of 24 teams in the Africa Cup of Nations has increased the tournament’s level of difficulty, noting that teams ranked third in Africa have become extremely challenging opponents.
During an interview with Ihab El Komy on the program “Malaeb El-Balad” on Sada El-Balad channel, Abdel-Latif stated, “The participation of 24 teams has not reduced the competition in the Africa Cup of Nations; on the contrary, I believe it has increased.
The level of teams ranked third is formidable in Africa, making it extremely challenging to face them.”
Hossam Abdel-Latif continued, “At the moment, the top teams in terms of performance are Morocco, Senegal, and Algeria, along with the Egyptian national team.
All these teams are exceptionally strong, especially with the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire.”
He concluded, “Comparing Marwan Attia and Hamdi Fathi in the midfield of the Egyptian national team, Hamdi Fathi is one of the influential players in the Egyptian national team, especially in the offensive aspect, as he can score goals.
I believe the team should play in its usual style, using the ‘4-2-3-1’ formation.”
