The construction of Uganda’s second national stadium in Hoima City continues to progress at an impressive pace, with Turkish contractors SUMMA leading the charge.
Stakeholders involved in the USD 129 million multi-sports complex are meeting regularly to assess the rapid developments.
The fifth site inspection, held yesterday, provided yet another opportunity to marvel at the remarkable progress of this landmark project.
During the meeting, the contractors delivered exciting news: all concrete works are expected to be completed by the end of March or April 2025.
This milestone will pave the way for subsequent phases, including steel installations and finishing touches. SUMMA, entrusted with completing the stadium within 18 months, remains firmly on track to deliver a state-of-the-art facility that promises to transform Uganda’s sports landscape.
The complex will boast a 20,000-seater main stadium, a 2,000-seater indoor arena, a training pitch, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, outdoor courts for basketball, netball and volleyball, and parking for over 1,000 vehicles.
Present at the site were key stakeholders, including officials from the National Council of Sports, the Ministry of Works, and local leadership.
The tour was further honoured by the presence of Hon. Jennifer Namuyangu Kacha, the Minister of State for Bunyoro Affairs.
With just months remaining, Uganda eagerly anticipates the unveiling of this transformative project.
The stadium will host the upcoming CHAN tournament slated for August this year and the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
