Hoeness fires warning at Liverpool over Michael Olise amid Salah succession talk
Uli Hoeness has dismissed growing speculation linking Liverpool with a move for Michael Olise, delivering a blunt message that underscores Bayern Munich’s firm stance on the highly rated winger.
Reports in recent weeks have suggested the Merseyside club are assessing Olise as a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah, whose era at Anfield is believed to be nearing its conclusion.
However, Bayern’s influential powerbroker has poured cold water on the idea, insisting the Bundesliga giants have no intention of strengthening a European rival.
Hoeness’ reaction reflects both scepticism toward the rumours and a broader unwillingness to entertain any approach from Liverpool.
The German executive questioned the credibility of the reports before pivoting to a pointed critique of Liverpool’s recent spending and form.
“If that’s true – I don’t believe it is, but Liverpool spent 500 million this year and are having a very bad season. So we won’t be contributing to them playing better next year,” he said. The remarks signal a hardline position from Bayern’s hierarchy, effectively shutting down any potential negotiations before they begin.
Olise remains a central figure in Bayern’s long-term plans following his £52 million arrival from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024.
The 24-year-old winger, widely admired for his creativity and technical sharpness, still has three years remaining on his contract, further strengthening Bayern’s leverage. His adaptation to the demands of German football has been closely monitored, with the club viewing him as a key component in their attacking rebuild.
For Liverpool, the search for a future beyond Salah continues to dominate transfer discussions. The Egyptian forward’s sustained influence at the club has set an exceptionally high benchmark, making any potential replacement a subject of intense scrutiny.
While Olise’s profile fits the mould of a dynamic wide attacker capable of evolving into a leading role, Bayern’s emphatic response suggests that particular avenue is firmly closed.
