Hilal announce signing of Netherlands winger Summerville from West Ham on deal to 2030

Saudi Pro League champions Al Hilal have completed the signing of Netherlands winger Crysencio Summerville from West Ham United on a four-year contract running until 2030.

The Riyadh club confirmed the move in an official statement on their website, describing Summerville as their sixth acquisition of the current summer transfer window.

Hilal said the 24-year-old put pen to paper on Friday at the team’s pre-season training camp in Austria, where he has now linked up with his new team-mates as preparations continue for the upcoming campaign.

The club added that owner Prince Alwaleed bin Talal had personally financed the transfer in full, publicly thanking him for covering the entire cost of the deal.

No financial details were disclosed by Hilal, but previous media reports have suggested the total fee could rise to €80m. If confirmed, that figure would make Summerville the second most expensive signing in the history of the Saudi Pro League.

World Cup impact

Summerville’s reputation grew significantly at the 2026 World Cup, despite not starting every game for the Netherlands.

The winger contributed two goals and two assists at the tournament, enhancing his profile on the international stage and underlining his effectiveness even without being an automatic first-choice pick.

Form at West Ham

Away from international duty, Summerville produced a strong campaign for West Ham last season.

He made 34 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League side, scoring seven goals and providing five assists, underlining his threat in the final third and his consistency over the course of the year.

Summerville’s performances in England were a key factor in attracting interest from abroad and paved the way for his move to Saudi Arabia.

Versatile attacking option

Hilal described Summerville as primarily operating on the left wing, his preferred position, but stressed his ability to play across the frontline.

The Dutchman is also capable of featuring on the right flank and can be deployed, albeit less frequently, as a central striker or in a more withdrawn playmaker role.

Hilal, nicknamed “Al Zaeem”, are looking to reinforce a squad already packed with high-profile names as they aim to defend their domestic titles and compete for continental honours.

Summerville’s arrival further underlines the club’s ambition in the transfer market and continues the Saudi Pro League’s drive to attract leading talent from Europe’s major competitions.
