Al Ahly’s Swiss coach, Marcel Koller, is set to hold a meeting with club officials as the team returns to training on January 11th to discuss several key matters related to the football team.
Club officials will discuss with the Swiss coach the January transfers and the status of players who have received offers from local and international clubs in recent weeks.
Additionally, they will finalize plans for the team’s camp scheduled in the UAE at the end of January.
Al Ahly has had a break from training due to the suspension of local and continental competitions for the Africa Cup of Nations, which kicks off on January 13th in Ivory Coast.
The team is expected to resume training on January 11th to prepare for upcoming challenges.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly’s management has reconsidered its earlier decision not to hold a camp during the current international break, especially after Marcel Koller, currently on vacation in Switzerland, expressed interest in the idea.
Initially opposed to the idea of a camp during the break in local and continental competitions due to several players participating in the Africa Cup of Nations, Al Ahly’s management is now revisiting the concept.
The coaching staff, led by Marcel Koller, aims to change the team’s routine and counteract any potential monotony resulting from daily training at El Tetsh Stadium without official matches.
Al Ahly is in talks with Koller over the possibility of organizing an external camp in the UAE at the end of January.
If the final approval is granted, arrangements are expected to be swiftly completed.
Al Ahly is expected to announce its final decision on the winter camp in the UAE in the coming days.
Seven Al Ahly players are with the Egypt national team participating in the Africa Cup of Nations: Mohamed El-Shennawy, Mohamed Abdel-Moneim, Mohamed Hani, Emam Ashour, Marwan Attia, Ahmed Nabil Koka, and Mahmoud Kahraba.
Additionally, three foreign players are with their national teams in the same tournament: Ali Maaloul (Tunisia), Percy Tau (South Africa), and Aliou Dieng (Mali).
Al Ahly will return to training at El Tetsh Stadium on January 11th after a break following their victory in the Egyptian Super Cup held in the UAE on December 28th, preceded by the bronze medal in the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
With no local or international competitions scheduled after withdrawing from the League Cup, Al Ahly’s first official match will be against JS Saoura of Algeria at the latter’s stadium on February 16th or 17th in the fourth round of the group stage of the CAF Champions League, a title Al Ahly currently holds.
