Hien heads to Norway as Troms IL take Djurgarden centre-back on loan

Sweden-Ghana defender Leon Hien has joined Troms IL from Djurgarden on loan, completing a move to the Norwegian Eliteserien side on 5 August 2026.

The 25-year-old centre-back’s loan runs until 31 December 2026, when he is scheduled to return to Djurgarden. No transfer fee has been disclosed for the temporary move.

Hien arrives at Troms IL after making five appearances in the 2026 Allsvenskan campaign for Djurgarden. He has played 132 minutes this season and has not scored, provided an assist or received a card.

The Stockholm-born defender moved to Djurgarden from Degerfors on 29 January 2026 in a permanent transfer valued at €550,000. He had joined Degerfors from Norwegian club Odd in January 2025 for €80,000.

Hien began his senior career with Hammarby, moving between the club’s first team and Hammarby TFF before joining Odd in January 2023. His early career also included loan spells with IK Frej Taby and Hammarby TFF, while he started in Djursholm’s youth system before moving to Hammarby’s under-19 side.

Standing 1.88m tall and favouring his right foot, Hien plays primarily as a centre-back. His move to Troms IL takes him back to Norway after his previous spell with Odd, although he now arrives with experience of Swedish top-flight football and recent permanent moves between Degerfors and Djurgarden.

Troms IL have secured Hien’s services through the end of 2026, with the defender’s temporary transfer from Djurgarden now complete.
