Hicham Boudaoui escapes chaos as Nice fans turn on team

Algerian midfielder Hicham Boudaoui narrowly avoided a frightening incident on Sunday night after angry OGC Nice supporters attacked the team bus following a 3–1 defeat away to Lorient in Ligue 1.

Several players and staff members were reportedly injured as objects were thrown and tensions boiled over, but Boudaoui was not on the bus at the time, spared both by his absence from the match and his strong standing with the fanbase.

His season had started brightly, with the former Paradou AC man emerging as one of Nice’s standout performers before a November injury and the team’s poor run of results disrupted his momentum.

He has still managed 15 appearances in all competitions, scoring once and providing two assists, yet missed the heavy loss to Marseille through injury and the Lorient match amid reports in France that his omission was a disciplinary decision.

With only a year left on his contract and interest from more competitive leagues, questions are growing over whether Boudaoui’s six‑year spell at Nice is nearing an end, even as the club publicly condemned the fan violence and praised his professionalism and popularity.
