French tactician Hervé Renard confirmed at a press conference that he will step down as the Women’s national team head coach after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Renard, 55, stated, “It will be the last, it’s the home stretch, and when we are in an international competition, sometimes it stops very quickly, whatever the date.”
He expressed his desire to finish his tenure on a high note, saying, “Once the last match is over, sometimes there is great joy, but everyone goes their separate ways.
“I’m used to it; this will be my 11th international competition. It won’t be without a bit of emotion. The pride of having worn this French team uniform and finishing on a very good note.”
Renard emphasized his confidence in the team’s future success, stating, “There is still a step to climb, but I am sure that the French team will win a title in the short to medium term. Hoping it will be as soon as possible.”
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, and Renard’s departure will mark the end of an era for Les Bleues.
The 55-year-old took over the France women’s team in March 2023 after departing Saudi Arabia. He was in charge when Saudi Arabia came from behind to beat Argentina in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
