Herve Koffi: Union SG eye move for Lens and Burkina Faso goalkeeper

Herve Koffi, the Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast-qualified goalkeeper currently at Lens, is being linked with a move to Belgian side Union SG as the Jupiler Pro League club explore options to strengthen their squad.

The 29-year-old, under contract with Lens until 30 June 2028, has a reported market value of around €6 million, which would make any deal a significant outlay for Union SG as they look to add an experienced goalkeeper with Ligue 1 and Belgian top-flight knowledge. No fee has been agreed and talks are understood to be at an exploratory stage, with Union SG assessing whether Lens are prepared to part with a player tied to a long-term deal.

Koffi joined Lens from Charleroi in July 2024 for €2.5 million and spent the 2025–26 season on loan at Angers before returning to the Stade Bollaert this summer. His previous spell in Belgium with Charleroi followed a move from Lille in 2021, giving Union SG detailed familiarity with his profile and performances in the Pro League.

Born in Bobo-Dioulasso on 16 October 1996 and standing at 1.86m, Koffi has built his reputation as a first-team goalkeeper across France, Belgium and Portugal after early spells with Rahimo FC, RC Bobo-Dioulasso and ASEC Mimosas. His return to Lens at the end of his Angers loan means the Ligue 1 club retain control over his future, and any transfer to Union SG would require agreement with a club that invested in him relatively recently and holds his registration for a further two years.
