Burkinabe goalkeeper Hervé Koffi honoured after standout season with Angers
Burkinabe goalkeeper Hervé Koffi has expressed gratitude to supporters after being named player of the season at Angers SCO following a campaign in which he emerged as a key figure for the side.
The 27-year-old, who joined Angers with high expectations, quickly established himself as one of the team’s most influential players.
His performances between the posts earned him recognition as a leader in a squad that faced challenges throughout the season.
In an interview with 226foot, Koffi acknowledged the role of the club’s supporters in his development. “I feel honored by the Angers supporters who have welcomed me warmly and pushed me to be better on the field while defending the colours of this magnificent club….”
Angers endured a difficult period marked by financial constraints and the departure of several important players.
Despite these setbacks, Koffi provided consistency at the back, delivering a series of decisive performances and helping to stabilise the defence.
Across all competitions, the Burkina Faso international made more than 30 appearances and kept around 10 clean sheets.
He also recorded one of the highest save percentages in the league and collected several man-of-the-match awards, underlining his importance to the team.
Reflecting on the season, Koffi emphasised the collective effort within the squad. “It was an emotionally charged season with a well-built team… The club was forced to sell some key players due to financial reasons, but that didn’t stop us from having the season we’re having.
We were able to replace them with other talented players developed at the club who are really helping us out.”
His remarks highlighted the resilience within the group, which adapted to mid-season changes while maintaining competitiveness.
Koffi also took the opportunity to thank both the Angers supporters and fans in Burkina Faso for their backing. “A huge thank you to them for their support; it’s truly heartwarming to see all the comments about me. I’m so happy about it.”
Following his loan spell, Koffi is set to return to RC Lens, where his performances are expected to attract further attention.
His displays this season have reinforced his reputation as one of the reliable goalkeepers currently playing in France.
