Hellas Verona set to delay Reda Belahyane’s departure amid transfer interest

Reda Belahyane’s future at Hellas Verona remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: the Italian club is in no rush to let him go. The 20-year-old Moroccan defensive midfielder, who joined from OGC Nice in January 2023, has quickly made a name for himself in Serie A. His standout performances this season have attracted attention from top European clubs, yet Verona is not prepared to part with him just yet.

Hellas Verona, according to reports from Hesport, has firmly decided to hold off on any potential sale of Belahyane during the upcoming winter transfer window.

Club officials are keen to assess his market value at the end of the current campaign before entertaining offers.

Verona is optimistic that delaying his transfer will increase his value, allowing them to cash in significantly when the time is right.

Strong Interest, But No Immediate Sale

Belahyane’s rise in Serie A has not gone unnoticed. Despite being relatively new to Italy’s top flight, his composure, defensive intelligence, and versatility have drawn the interest of several major clubs.

Among those reportedly monitoring his progress are OGC Nice, Olympique de Marseille, and Italian giants Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Lazio.

While these clubs are eager to secure the young midfielder’s services, Hellas Verona remains steadfast in its strategy.

The club acquired Belahyane for just €500,000, a bargain considering his rapid development. With his value now significantly higher, Verona aims to capitalise on his growing reputation.

The club reportedly expects to fetch between €7 million and €8 million when the time comes to sell, marking a substantial profit.

However, for now, they are committed to keeping him on their books, at least until the summer.

Belahyane’s Steady Rise

Since making his professional debut with OGC Nice, Reda Belahyane has shown considerable promise.

His move to Verona in January marked a new chapter in his career, and he has quickly adapted to the demands of Italian football.

This season, his contributions in the midfield have been pivotal for Verona, cementing his role as a key player for the team.

His ability to break up play, shield the defence, and provide a calm presence in the centre of the park has caught the eye of scouts from across Europe.

For now, Belahyane remains focused on helping Hellas Verona navigate their Serie A campaign, but the growing interest from elite clubs indicates that his future lies on a much bigger stage.

Financial Incentives for Verona

Hellas Verona’s decision to hold onto Belahyane until the end of the season is as much about financial prudence as it is about footballing reasons.

By waiting until the summer, the club can fully evaluate his market value, potentially sparking a bidding war among interested teams.

This approach could allow Verona to maximise the return on their initial investment, helping to replenish the club’s coffers.

For Belahyane, this means a longer stay in Verona, at least for the remainder of the season.

However, with clubs like Inter Milan and AC Milan circling, it’s only a matter of time before he steps onto a bigger platform.

Until then, Hellas Verona will continue to benefit from the talents of one of Morocco’s most exciting young prospects.
