He’ll be back soon – Everton provides positive injury update on Idrissa Gueye
Everton manager David Moyes has provided a positive injury update on Senegal international Idrissa Gana Gueye after missing their game against Crystal Palace.
The enterprising midfielder was not in action when his outfit played out a 2-2 away draw with the Eagles on Sunday afternoon.
Gueye had already missed Everton’s previous fixture against Manchester City due to injury, and was again unavailable for selection after failing to return to training in time for the trip to Selhurst Park.
Speaking before kick-off, Moyes moved to calm concerns over the Senegal international’s fitness, stressing that the injury is not considered serious and that a return is expected in the coming days.
“He’s not training yet, but he’s fine,” Moyes explained. “It’s not a serious injury so we hope he’ll be back soon.”
The update will come as a relief to Everton supporters, with Gueye widely regarded as a key figure in the team’s midfield structure thanks to his energy, defensive discipline and experience at the top level.
Despite his absence, the Everton manager remained confident that the veteran midfielder’s setback would not keep him sidelined for an extended period.
Gueye, who has been an important presence since his return to the club, continues to play a vital role in stabilising Everton’s midfield during a demanding Premier League campaign.
For now, however, the Toffees were forced to proceed without one of their most trusted operators as they faced Crystal Palace, with Moyes hopeful the Senegalese midfielder will be back in contention shortly.
