Ahmed Hegazi, the defender of the Egyptian national team, believes that the Pharaohs need to improve in certain aspects in the upcoming matches, especially mentally, as there is no room for compensation in the next games.
In televised statements, he said, “We feel sad about the results we achieved in the group stage, and we feel that there is something wrong that we are trying to correct.
We must improve in many things, including the mental aspect, because of the upcoming matches.”
He continued, “We have 5 days to rest from the nervous pressure we went through before the next match.
On a personal level, I am very sad, and we must have a strong reaction in the upcoming matches.”
He added, “Players are judged by their reaction in difficult situations we go through.
It is not important how we started the tournament but how we will finish it.”
The Egyptian national team advanced to the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations after drawing 2-2 with Cape Verde in the third round of the group stage in the 2023 Ivory Coast Africa Cup of Nations.
After the draw, the Egyptian national team raised their points to 3, securing the second position in the group, behind Cape Verde, who topped the group with 7 points.
