French international with Mauritanian-Senegalese and Malian roots, Ousmane Dembélé, has been setting the football world alight with his scintillating performances for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this season.
The former Barcelona winger’s recent form has drawn high praise from none other than Nicolas Anelka, himself a former PSG star and French football icon.
Dembélé’s impact on PSG’s campaign has been nothing short of extraordinary.
The 27-year-old has been in prolific form, netting six goals in his last six Champions League appearances and an impressive eleven goals in his previous seven Ligue 1 matches.
This goal-scoring spree represents a significant improvement from his previous season, where he managed only six goals in 42 appearances across all competitions.
Anelka, speaking to RMC, expressed his delight at Dembélé’s resurgence.
“He has been criticised for his statistics, now he shows that he has worked and persevered. He scores a lot of goals and I hope that this path continues to take PSG as far as possible.”
While Dembélé didn’t find the net in PSG’s recent 7-0 Champions League demolition of Brest, his contribution to the team’s overall performance was significant.
