17-year-old striker of Nigerian descent, Chido Obi, has garnered commendation from Denmark’s Under-21 coach, Steffen Højer, for his smooth adaptation to the national setup.
Obi, who transitioned from Arsenal to Manchester United’s academy, boasts an impressive goal-scoring record, including a remarkable ten-goal performance against Liverpool’s youth team.
“I think he is integrating well into the squad,” Højer told Tipsbladet.
“We had talked a lot about it beforehand because he is five years younger than some of the players we brought along. He is a very young man, he was there to learn and we had him with us to assess him.
“He made a good impression and I was extremely pleased to see how he adapted to the squad and how the boys welcomed him. He has shown himself well.
“Now, it’s back home to continue working at Manchester United and see if he can get a bit more playing time there.”
Obi’s rapid ascent is highlighted by his senior debut for Manchester United in February, where he became the club’s third-youngest Premier League player at 17 years and 79 days old.
As Obi continues his development at Manchester United, Nigeria will be hoping to convince him to choose the Super Eagles at senior international level.
