Hazem Emam has confirmed his complete departure from Zamalek, marking the end of the club’s planning committee following major changes behind the scenes.
His decision comes after John Edward was appointed as the new sporting director.
Speaking on radio, Emam clarified, “The planning committee has completely left Zamalek Club, and we have no role, after John Edward’s presence as sporting director. We want the club to succeed and help it.”
He expressed frustration about some fans and insiders trying to bypass the club’s new structure. “Some people have been contacting me about the need to talk to John about signing a certain player. This is unacceptable, because he is responsible for making the selection. We shouldn’t interfere, and he is responsible along with Hussein Labib, the club president.”
Emam made it clear: “There is no planning committee at all. Good luck to the board of directors and good luck to John Edward.”
“Signing Yannick Ferrera is a good thing, because he’s a distinguished coach who has worked in the Saudi and Belgian leagues. He’s still young, and he and his coaching staff will receive $50,000 per month.”
