Hazem El Askry: Egyptian forward joins El Mahalla on loan from Zed FC

El Mahalla have signed Egyptian centre-forward Hazem El Askry on a loan deal from Premier League rivals Zed FC. The 23-year-old, who prefers to operate through the middle of the attack, joins the club for the 2026-27 campaign.

El Askry, whose contract at El Mahalla runs until 30 June 2027, makes the move after a series of temporary spells away from Zed FC in recent seasons. The agreement is structured as a loan transfer, with the player due to return to Zed FC at the end of next season.

The Cairo-born striker arrives with top-flight experience, having featured in the Egyptian Premier League, League Cup and various play-off rounds. Across his league outings he has made 24 appearances, scoring twice and providing three assists in 1,105 minutes of action, as he looks to convert that exposure into a more regular starting role.

El Askry first stepped up from Zed FCs youth ranks to the senior side ahead of the 2024-25 season, before being sent out to Harras Hodoud and later to El Mokawloon to gain further game time. He returned to Zed FC at the end of last term following the conclusion of his loan at El Mokawloon.

With a current estimated market value of 100,000, El Askry will now compete for a place in El Mahallas forward line as the club prepare for the new Premier League campaign. The deal sees the Egyptian attacker remain under contract at Zed FC, while spending the 2026-27 season on loan at El Mahalla.
