Haykeul Chikhaoui: Tunisian-French midfielder joins Club Africain on free transfer

Tunisian-French attacking midfielder Haykeul Chikhaoui has joined Club Africain on a free transfer from Al-Nasr SC. The 29-year-old has signed a contract with the Tunis giants running until 30 June 2029.

Chikhaoui, a left-footed playmaker born in Marseille, returns to Tunisian Ligue 1 after a spell in the United Arab Emirates with Ajman Club and Al-Nasr. He moves back into a league where he previously impressed with US Monastir, helping them to a Tunisian Super Cup title in 2021.

The midfielder arrives with considerable top-flight experience, having made 72 Ligue 1 appearances earlier in his career in France, as well as featuring in Portugal’s second tier and the UAE Pro League. Across league and cup competitions, he has also appeared in both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, registering five assists in 11 games in the latter.

Chikhaoui began his senior journey in France with Sochaux’s youth and reserve teams before a move to FC Porto B, where he was part of a squad that won the Portuguese second division title in 2016. A short loan at Varzim followed, before he left Porto and relaunched his career in Tunisia with Stade Tunisien in 2018.

He later established himself at US Monastir, earning a switch to the Gulf in 2023. His latest move marks a return to North African football, with Club Africain securing an experienced attacking midfielder on a long-term deal after his departure from Al-Nasr SC.
