Former Comoros and Mauritania national team head coach Amir Abdou has been unveiled as the new head coach of Hassania Agadir FC.
Abdou returned to club football in Morocco’s top flight on a two-year deal he signed with the club.
Despite the interest from several clubs, Abdou has moved to the Botola Pro League.
“Yes, I can confirm that my client has signed a top job in Morocco with Hassania Agadir,” said Kenneth Yamongbe, Abdou’s representative.
“It’s a very ambitious team this season. He was approached by two PSL clubs, but we could not reach an agreement on financial terms. He will now compete in the same league as Pablo Franco, the former AmaZulu head coach.”
Abdou is widely respected on the African continent for his impressive achievements with Comoros, whom he led to their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations appearance in 2021, and more recently for his tenure with Mauritania.
Abdou is set for a fresh challenge in North Africa, where he’ll join a league that continues to attract tacticians with experience in Southern African football.
