Harry Kane matches Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski Champions League record

Harry Kane scored as Bayern Munich began their UEFA Champions League campaign with a 5-0 victory over Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt on Thursday, extending his remarkable scoring run in the competition.

The England captain’s goal means he has now scored in eight consecutive UEFA Champions League appearances, placing him among only four players to have achieved that feat at least eight times in a row, according to statistics provider Opta.

Kane joins Cristiano Ronaldo, who accomplished the milestone twice, Robert Lewandowski, who also did so twice, and Ruud van Nistelrooy in the exclusive group.

The 32-year-old put Bayern 2-0 ahead in the 61st minute, rising to meet a free-kick delivery from Michael Olise and directing a header into the net.

Bayern had taken the lead two minutes after half-time when Jamal Musiala opened the scoring in the 47th minute. Kane then doubled the advantage before Alphonso Davies added a third in the 77th minute with a powerful strike from outside the penalty area.

Olise completed the emphatic victory by scoring twice late on, finding the net in the 83rd minute and again in the second minute of injury time at 90+2.

The result gave Bayern Munich a convincing start to their European campaign, while Kane continued to match the historic Champions League scoring sequence previously achieved by some of the competition’s most prolific players.
