The Hannover striker sustained an ankle injury during the match against Hertha Berlin on Friday in the Bundesliga’s 8th day. The injury is more serious than initially thought, leading to the need for surgery, as indicated by his coach.
An MRI conducted on Saturday confirmed that Ya Konan has suffered a lesion of the tibiofibular syndesmosis. Hannover’s coach, Mirko Slomka, expressed disappointment, stating, “It’s obviously a big blow for us. We will miss him.”
This injury will necessitate Sabri Lamouchi, the coach of the Ivorian national team, to find a replacement for Ya Konan in the list of players called up to face Senegal in the upcoming crucial match.
