Haras El Hodoud held National Bank to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday evening at El Mex Stadium, showing resilience in front of their home fans in the Egyptian Premier League.
Amr Gamal gave the hosts the lead in the 26th minute after a smart build-up. But just before halftime, National Bank responded when Osama Faisal converted a penalty in the 45th minute.
Faisal’s goal took his league tally to 12, putting him top of the scoring charts, one ahead of Zamalek’s Nasser Mansi and Al Ahly’s Imam Ashour.
Despite conceding, the result gave Haras El Hodoud another valuable point. Under coach Ahmed Zahran, they moved to ninth place with 23 points, maintaining a steady mid-table position as the season builds toward a tense finish.
National Bank, coached by Tarek Mostafa, now sit in fourth place with 37 points. They remain just one point ahead of Al Masry in the race for a spot in next season’s African Confederation Championship.
