Haras El Hodoud began their Egyptian League season in style, securing a 1-0 victory against visiting National Bank on Friday night at Al-Max Stadium in Alexandria.
After sitting out the first round due to the league’s 21-team format, the hosts looked eager to make their mark in their opening game.
The decisive moment came in the 25th minute when Ahmed Al-Sheikh calmly finished to give Haras El Hodoud the lead. The team then battled to protect their advantage, relying on disciplined defending and swift counterattacks.
The evening was not without drama, as Mohamed Gaber received a red card in the 90+2 minute, forcing Haras El Hodoud to see out the final moments with ten men.
Under coach Abdel Hamid Bassiouni, Haras El Hodoud now sit in eighth place with three points, a promising start for a side aiming to be competitive this season.
National Bank, led by Tarek Mostafa, remain with just one point in 15th place, still searching for their first win.
