Haras El Hodoud manager criticises referee after late penalty against El Sekka El Hadid

Haras El Hodoud manager Mohamed Makki has strongly criticised referee Mohamed El Ghazy after his side conceded a 90th-minute penalty in their 1-1 draw with El Sekka El Hadid in the Professional League.

The match, played at Al-Maks Stadium in Alexandria on Thursday evening, was decided by a late spot-kick that prompted protests from Haras El Hodoud players and officials.

“Referee Mohamed El Ghazy awarded a penalty in a very clear favour to El Sekka El Hadid,” Makki told FilGoal.com.

Makki expressed his anger at the decision and said it had undermined his team’s efforts during the match.

“Why did the referee waste our hard work? We demand fairness in the coming matches,” he added.

He also questioned whether El Ghazy wanted to officiate matches in the second tier.

“If El Ghazy does not want to referee second-division matches, he should refuse to do so,” said Makki.

Haras El Hodoud took the lead through Ahmed Nayel, but El Sekka El Hadid drew level when Gamal Magdy converted the disputed penalty in the 90th minute.

The result moved Haras El Hodoud to 18 points and kept them second in the table. El Sekka El Hadid are 10th with 11 points.
