Hany Ramzy calls for urgent Al Ahly change as pressure mounts on Jose Riveiro
Hany Ramzy, once at the heart of Al Ahly’s scouting setup, has voiced deep concerns about the team’s current struggles and believes the club may soon look for a new coach.
With results slipping and performances lacking identity, Ramzy says the Spanish coach Jose Riveiro has not lived up to the club’s standards.
Ramzy shared on television that “Riveiro is technically below Al Ahly’s level, and the management may consider alternatives, whether foreign or local, although this is not the club’s tradition. However, it is necessary to work on this matter,” while praising Emad El Nahhas for his knowledge of the squad.
He also questioned recent decisions, pointing to Karim El-Dabbas’ departure despite being the best candidate at left-back, and raised doubts over new signing Mohamed Shoukry.
Ramzy stressed that Ribeiro’s tactics lacked clarity: “There were no clear technical lines, and the opportunities that arose were the result of individual efforts, and this does not reflect Al-Ahly’s character at all.”
He urged immediate psychological work, highlighting players’ frustrations and the need for urgent leadership.
