Hansi Flick’s Barcelona Instagram account passes one million followers in debut day

Hansi Flick attracted more than one million Instagram followers within 24 hours of launching his official account, after a message to Barcelona supporters prompted a rapid response from the club’s fanbase.

Barcelona and Flick announced the account on Thursday evening in a joint post. The German coach said he wanted to use the platform to share glimpses of his everyday life, his work behind the scenes and his experience with the Catalan club.

“Hello, Barcelona fans! I am very happy to be on Instagram and to share some moments from my everyday life, my life with Barcelona and with you,” Flick wrote.

He then addressed supporters in Catalan, adding: “Thank you very much for your support… Visca el Barca!”

The post led to a surge in followers, taking Flick’s account beyond the one-million mark within a few hours. The speed of the growth highlights the popularity he has built among Barcelona supporters since becoming the club’s head coach.

Although Barcelona’s players have substantial audiences across social media, Flick reached the milestone particularly quickly given that his account was newly created. None of the club’s current players had previously achieved the same figure in comparable circumstances.

His following could increase further if Barcelona players promote the account through their own posts or stories. Lamine Yamal, the club’s most-followed player, has about 60 million followers.

Flick’s activity on the new account has so far been limited to one post and two stories. One of the stories offered condolences to the families of those killed in the train accident in Toledo, while the other announced his arrival on social media.

The development comes as Barcelona are listed for a La Liga fixture against Deportivo Alaves on 31 October 2026.
