Hani Abo Rida has once again solidified his position as a key figure in Egyptian football by being re-elected as president of the Egyptian Football Association.
With an overwhelming 107 out of 115 votes cast in his favour during the General Assembly meeting, Abo Rida’s leadership was reaffirmed in elections held at the National Teams Center, famously known as the “Al-Hadaf Project,” in 6th of October City.
The elections were conducted amidst significant anticipation, as no other candidates submitted their nominations before the deadline.
Abo Rida’s list, which features prominent names such as Khaled Al-Darandali as vice president and members, including Ahmed Helmy Al-Sharif, Enas Mazhar, and Tarek Mohamed Abu Al-Enein, was the sole contender.
This landslide victory reflects the trust and confidence the Egyptian football community places in Abo Rida’s vision and leadership.
In his first statement post-victory, the 71-year-old expressed his gratitude and emphasized the importance of hard work to advance Egyptian football.
His leadership is credited with bringing professionalism, strategic planning, and international recognition to the sport in the country.
Abo Rida’s reelection marks the beginning of another term aimed at enhancing Egypt’s standing on the global football stage and fostering the growth of local talent.
He was pressured by the public to resign from his first presidential position, after Egypt’s AFCON 2019 loss against South Africa, which he did on July 6, 2019.
