In the cadet handball tournament for zones 2 and 3 of the Confederation Africaine de Handball (CAHB), Benin defeated Burkina Faso with a score of 33 to 26 in the opening match held at the Palais des Sports in Ouagadougou. The tournament featured six West African countries from zones 2 and 3: Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Niger, and Togo. Unfortunately, Mali was unable to participate. The victory marked a successful start for Benin in the competition, while Burkina Faso faced a challenging beginning as the host country.
