Hamza Mathlouthi returns to Cairo following successful surgery in Germany
Zamalek SC right-back Hamza Mathlouthi has returned to Cairo after undergoing surgery in Germany to treat a serious knee injury.
The Tunisian international was sent abroad for medical intervention after suffering a significant anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear.
The club’s management opted for surgery in Germany, where specialists reconstructed his ACL using arthroscopic techniques.
Following a successful procedure, Mathlouthi has now rejoined his teammates in Egypt to begin his rehabilitation.
While his recovery timeline remains uncertain, doctors have advised an extended period of rest before he can resume training.
Zamalek’s medical staff will oversee the next phase of his rehabilitation as he works towards regaining full fitness.
The White Knights are currently third in the Egyptian Premier League standings with 20 points and are preparing to face Ismaily on Friday in their twelfth league match of the season.
Mathlouthi’s absence will be felt in Zamalek’s defensive setup, but the club remains hopeful for his full recovery in the coming months.
