Hamza Abdelkarim fires Barcelona into Youth Champions Cup semi-finals with brilliant header
Egyptian youngster Hamza Abdelkarim played a starring role as FC Barcelona booked their place in the semi-finals of the Youth Champions Cup following a dramatic comeback victory against Tenerife on Thursday.
Barcelona’s U-19 side overturned a two-goal first-leg deficit by producing an impressive 3-0 win at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.
Barcelona Complete Stunning Comeback
After losing the first leg 2-0, Barcelona entered the return fixture knowing they needed an attacking display to keep their campaign alive.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, the Catalan side started aggressively and almost found an early breakthrough through Hamza Abdelkarim, whose header narrowly missed the target.
Despite Barcelona’s attacking pressure, Tenerife remained organised defensively during the first half and successfully frustrated the hosts, forcing the match into halftime without goals.
Hamza Abdelkarim Delivers Key Moment
Barcelona eventually broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute through Pedro Villar, giving the home side renewed belief.
Just minutes later, Hamza Abdelkarim produced one of the defining moments of the night when he rose brilliantly inside the penalty area to score a powerful header in the 61st minute.
The Egyptian forward’s goal put Barcelona ahead on aggregate before Oscar Gesto added a third goal to complete the remarkable turnaround and secure qualification for the semi-finals.
Egyptian Federation Celebrates Rising Talent
The Egyptian Football Association praised Hamza Abdelkarim’s latest performance on social media following the match.
The federation highlighted the youngster’s impressive form, noting that he continues to shine after recently scoring a hat-trick that helped Barcelona secure the Spanish Youth League title.
Hamza Abdelkarim’s rapid rise continues to attract attention as he establishes himself as one of the standout young talents in Barcelona’s academy setup.
