The long-standing saga between Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah and his former club Al-Nassr has finally reached its conclusion after over two years, with Hamdallah emerging victorious both on and off the pitch.
Al-Nassr terminated Hamdallah’s contract in November 2021, citing justifiable reasons due to numerous conflicts with both the coaching staff and management.
This marked the beginning of a legal battle between the player and the club over the payment of his release clause, initially set at €20 million but later reduced to €9.5 million.
In return, FIFA ruled in favor of Hamdallah, ordering Al-Nassr to pay his outstanding wages along with deductions made during the COVID-19 pandemic.
After a prolonged legal dispute, Hamdallah announced yesterday, Thursday, that he had obtained all his financial rights after judicial committees confirmed that Al-Nassr’s decision to terminate his contract was invalid.
Four Strikes in 835 Days
Since his departure from Al-Nassr in November 2021 until receiving his dues on March 7, 2024, Hamdallah has dealt four significant blows to his former club over a period of 835 days.
The first blow came with a resounding victory over Al-Nassr in their first encounter, where Hamdallah scored a goal and provided an assist in a 3-0 win during the 2021-2022 season.
The second strike occurred when Hamdallah helped Al-Ittihad Jeddah clinch the Saudi Professional League title last season after a fierce battle with Al-Nassr, ultimately securing victory with a five-point difference.
Not content with just the league triumph, Hamdallah delivered a third blow to Al-Nassr by defeating them in the semi-finals of the Saudi Super Cup with a scoreline of 3-1.
The fourth and final strike came off the field as Hamdallah successfully obtained his overdue payments amounting to €3.3 million, further solidifying his victory beyond the pitch.
Hamdallah’s Performance Against Al-Nassr
In his five matches against Al-Nassr across various local competitions, Hamdallah emerged triumphant three times, drew once, and suffered a single defeat. He scored four goals, provided one assist, and received three yellow cards while securing both the league and super cup titles at Al-Nassr’s expense.
