Hamburger SV set for fresh talks with Dortmund to sign German-Libyan defender Almugera Kabar
Hamburger SV are preparing to reopen discussions with Borussia Dortmund over a potential move for Germany-born defender of Libyan descent, Almugera Kabar.
Kabar was on the verge of joining the Hamburg-based club during the winter transfer window, but the deal ultimately collapsed due to injury concerns that ruled him out of immediate action.
Despite that setback, interest in the 2023 U17 World Cup winner remains strong. HSV sporting director Claus Costa had earlier confirmed that the player continues to be monitored closely, leaving the door open for a future move.
According to reports, both clubs are expected to resume talks ahead of the summer transfer window, with key questions still to be addressed. HSV are assessing their options on the left side of defence, including whether to recruit a backup for Miro Muheim or pursue a more permanent solution, particularly amid uncertainty surrounding his future.
For Kabar, a move could offer a clearer pathway to regular first-team football, as opportunities at Dortmund have been limited under head coach Niko Kovac. Now fully fit, the 19-year-old is reportedly still keen on securing a transfer that would allow him to continue his development with consistent playing time.
