Hamburger SV remain keen on Germany-born Libyan defender Almugera Kabar, despite a failed attempt to secure his transfer during the winter window.
The 19-year-old left-back, currently at Borussia Dortmund, was set to join HSV late in the winter transfer period, but the move unexpectedly collapsed.
Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg revealed that the two clubs had differing views on Kabar’s fitness following his medical examination.
Even though the deal fell through, Kabar continues to feature on Hamburger SV’s radar.
“Of course, he remains on our radar. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have been interested in him,” HSV sporting director Claus Costa said in a recent interview.
Costa clarified that Kabar did not fail his medical, but the assessment concluded that the 19-year-old would not be able to contribute immediately due to a knee injury, leaving the door open for a potential future move.
Sources report that Hamburger SV could renew attempts to sign Kabar during next summer’s transfer window.
