Johan Djourou, who is set to join Hamburg this summer, may be sidelined for the initial matches of the season due to a recent groin surgery. The Swiss central defender, currently on loan from Arsenal, underwent the surgery on Tuesday.
Given the nature of the procedure, it is anticipated that Djourou may not have recovered sufficiently in time for Hamburg’s first-round German Cup encounter against Schott Jena on August 4. Additionally, there is uncertainty regarding his availability for the Bundesliga season opener, where Thorsten Fink’s team is scheduled to face Schalke 04 on August 11.
