Hakimi struggles as Coman dominates in Bayern Munich victory over PSG

Achraf Hakimi’s performance in Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night was one of his most disappointing in recent memory. The Moroccan international, known for his attacking prowess down the right flank, was unable to make an impact as Bayern emerged victorious with a 1-0 win at the Allianz Arena.

Hakimi’s usual role as a key outlet for PSG on the right wing was severely compromised by Bayern’s Kingsley Coman, who delivered a masterclass in both attacking and defensive play.

Throughout the match, Hakimi found himself under constant pressure from the French winger, struggling to cope with Coman’s pace and skill.

The 24-year-old Moroccan was frequently outmuscled and outpaced, leaving him unable to contribute effectively to his team.

Hakimi faced a total of 13 ground duels during the match, with the majority of them coming against Coman.

However, he only managed to win six of those battles, a statistic that highlights his struggles in the encounter.

Additionally, the right-back was responsible for 19 turnovers, further reflecting his inability to cope with Bayern’s relentless pressure.

Coman, in contrast, was able to glide past Hakimi with ease, completing two successful dribbles while Hakimi failed to block a single shot during the 90 minutes.

Offensively, Hakimi was almost entirely absent. He registered no goals, no assists, and no shots on target, offering little to PSG’s attacking efforts.

His solitary dribble attempt was unsuccessful, adding to the sense that he was a shadow of his usual self.

In terms of defensive contributions, Hakimi did make one interception and one tackle, but they were insufficient to stem the tide of Coman’s dominance on the right wing.

This defeat will be a bitter pill for Hakimi, who has often been lauded for his defensive and offensive abilities.

However, against an in-form Coman, the Moroccan’s performance was far from his best.

As PSG prepares for their upcoming challenges in both domestic and European competitions, Hakimi will need to quickly recover from this forgettable performance if he is to return to his usual high standards.

The match also raised further questions about PSG’s overall performance under coach Luis Enrique.

Despite a resilient showing from some of the team’s key players, the Parisians were unable to overcome Bayern, leaving them with much to ponder as they continue their Champions League campaign.
