Achraf Hakimi eyes special PSG season after Barcelona win extends Champions League run

Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi says Paris Saint-Germain are determined to achieve something special this season after helping the French champions secure a 4-2 victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

The right-back provided an assist for Fabián Ruiz’s late goal at the Parc des Princes as PSG maintained their perfect start to the competition with a third consecutive win in the league phase.

Speaking after the match, Hakimi admitted he was tired following an intense encounter but expressed satisfaction with his contribution and the team’s performance.

According to Foot Mercato, citing Canal+, the Morocco defender said he was pleased to provide an assist despite missing opportunities to score himself.

“I’m very happy with my assist. I had chances to score today, but it didn’t work out,” the Moroccan right-back said.

“When we play against teams of this quality, we enjoy playing these kinds of games… We are ambitious and want to keep winning,” he added.

Hakimi helps PSG overcome Barcelona challenge

PSG emerged victorious after an entertaining contest against Barcelona, who twice fought back to level the score before the French side secured the win.

Désiré Doué, Lucas Hernández, Vitinha and Ruiz scored for the hosts, while Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal found the net for Barcelona.

Vitinha and Ruiz ultimately helped PSG pull away, with Hakimi setting up Ruiz’s 86th-minute goal to seal the result.

The victory extended PSG’s winning run in the Champions League league phase to three matches, taking them to nine points.

Barcelona suffer first defeat of the season

The defeat marked Barcelona’s first loss of the season across all competitions, while PSG continued their strong start to their European campaign.

Hakimi’s contribution once again underlined his importance to Luis Enrique’s side, with the Moroccan international continuing to provide an attacking threat from defence.

With PSG aiming to maintain their winning momentum, Hakimi’s comments reflected the club’s ambition to build on their early success and compete for further honours this season.
