Hakimi backs PSG to see off Arsenal to claim second UEFA Champions League title
Morocco international Achraf Hakimi says he is approaching the UEFA Champions League final against Arsenal with motivation and responsibility instead of pressure ahead of Saturday’s showdown.
The highly anticipated final will take place at the Puskás Arena in Budapest, with kick-off scheduled for 17:00 Moroccan time as Paris Saint-Germain aim to secure another historic European triumph.
Speaking in an interview with UEFA before the match, the 27-year-old explained that the respect he receives from fans and the football community gives him confidence rather than creating added tension.
“It’s not pressure, it’s a responsibility and above all, a motivation,” Hakimi said.
“knowing that people respect you gives you extra drive to know how to manage the game and how to approach these kinds of matches, it’s an encouragement”
Hakimi also admitted that winning the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain has always been one of his biggest ambitions, with the Moroccan defender eager to continue building his legacy at the French club.
“I dreamt of winning the UCL with Paris and being part of their history”
“I dreamt of winning the UCL with Paris and being part of their history. When we won the first of our club, fans and everyone, we felt relieved and it took a weight off our shoulders,” the PSG star added.
Having previously experienced the pressure and excitement of major European nights, Hakimi believes it is important to enjoy every moment while remaining focused on the task ahead.
“Now, it’s time to enjoy the process as well as this competition’s final once again,” the Moroccan defender concluded.
Saturday’s final will see the champions of France and England battle for European glory after both clubs secured their domestic league titles this season. Paris Saint-Germain will also be aiming to successfully defend their European crown in what promises to be another thrilling final.
