Wydad Casablanca president Hicham Aït Menna says Hakim Ziyech’s arrival will boost revenue not only for the club, but for Moroccan football as a whole.

The Morocco international completed a free transfer to the record Botola champions after parting ways with Al Duhail in Qatar at the end of last season.

Although he is yet to play his first match for Wydad, the club’s boss is convinced the former Chelsea star will elevate the commercial appeal of the league.

“I think that Wydad will not be the only one to benefit from this value, but also the clubs that we will visit to play against, because many fans will come to watch Ziyech,” Ait Menna said in an interview with Al-Sabah newspaper, as LeSiteInfo.

“We will increase Wydad’s revenues and the revenues of other teams, and the marketing value of the league will also increase, in terms of television and advertising revenues, with the presence of players of this value in the national championship.

Ziyech’s registration for the domestic competition is still pending, with the club awaiting clearance.

“In any case, the eligibility process is within the jurisdiction of the National Professional Football League, and we are waiting for the decision,” Ait Mena added.

Ziyech is expected to make his long-awaited debut for Wydad in January 2026, according to AfricaSoccer.com.
