Morocco head coach, Walid Regragui, has backed winger Hakim Ziyech despite being left out of his 26-man squad fr the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying games.
The former Chelsea and Ajax winger, for the second consecutive times, has been dropped for the upcoming games against Niger and Tanzania due to fitness concerns.
However, Regragui, speaking to the press, said the door is still open to the 29-year-old when he returns to his best form.
“Ziyech is a great player with real talent. He’s contributed a lot to the team,” he said.
The coach even traveled to Qatar to watch Ziyech play against Al-Sadd, only to see him left on the bench.
“Now he’s started the last two games and is getting back to form,” Regragui added. “When he’s ready, we’ll call him back because he’s an important player for us.”
Morocco Niger on March 21 before hosting Tanzania on March 25. The Atlas Lions currently top their group with nine points.
