Hakim Ziyech has set his sights on a return to the Moroccan national team as he looks to regain form and playing time ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The 31-year-old winger recently completed a move to Qatari side Al Duhail, leaving Galatasaray after struggling for minutes.
Ziyech made his debut for Al Duhail last Friday, playing 11 minutes in his first appearance for the club.
Speaking about his transfer, the former Chelsea player was clear about his motivation.
I signed here to have playing time and get back in shape to return to the national team and play in the AFCON,” he stated.
Competition within the Moroccan squad has been fierce, and Ziyech has missed the last two international call-ups due to his lack of action in Turkey.
Morocco head coach Walid Regragui addressed the situation last year, emphasizing the need for the winger to earn his place.
There is no controversy, everything is clear. He has to work and play more, and he will belong to us in the end,” Regragui said in November.
Now with a fresh start in Qatar, Ziyech is determined to prove himself before Morocco hosts the tournament.
His immediate challenge will be adapting to his new club and rediscovering the consistency that made him a key figure for the Atlas Lions.
