Hakim Ziyech linked with Botafogo move after leaving Wydad AC

Hakim Ziyech, the Moroccan-Dutch winger currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Brazilian Serie A side Botafogo.

The 33-year-old right winger left Wydad AC on 6 September, having joined the Moroccan club from Al-Duhail in October 2025. The reported interest from Botafogo comes a day after his departure from Wydad.

Ziyech began his senior career in the Netherlands with Heerenveen before establishing himself at FC Twente and Ajax. He moved to Chelsea in 2020 for €40m and won the Champions League with the London club in the 2020-21 season. He also helped Ajax win the Dutch league and cup in 2018-19.

The left-footed attacker spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Galatasaray before joining the Turkish side permanently in July 2024. He won two Turkish league titles with Galatasaray, then moved to Al-Duhail on a free transfer in January 2025.

Ziyech’s career record includes 216 Eredivisie appearances, with 79 goals and 91 assists, while he has also made 45 Champions League appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists.

He is now available after ending his association with Wydad, with Botafogo the club currently linked with his next move.
